Car Safety

You probably spend some time in a car or bus going to school, running errands with your parents, or going over to a friend’s house.  There are  steps you can take to make you, your family, and your friends are safe in and around vehicles!

While riding in the car:

  • ALWAYS wear your and tell others to wear a seat belt.
  • Ride in the back seat of the car until you are 13 years old.
  • Avoid distracting the driver by listening to music, drawing a picture or playing a quiet game.
  • Ride in a booster seat until you weigh 80 pounds.

It is dangerous for kids to play in and around vehicles.

To reduce these dangers:

  • Always get out of the car with your parents or an adult.  Hot and cold weather can make cars very harmful and could hurt a kid.

  • Avoid playing in the driveway or parking areas.
    • Drivers cannot always see children playing.
