Wheeled Sports Safety

Did you know that according to Safe Kids WorldWide bicycles are associated with more childhood injuries than any other consumer product except automobiles?  OR that child bicycling deaths increase 45 percent above the monthly average in the summer months?

Wheeled sports such as skateboards, bicycles, scooters, and ATVs are popular activities during the summer months. A helmet is the single most useful safety equipment for reducing the severity of head injuries and the likelihood of death following a bicycle crash. Safe Kids WorldWide's research among 8-12-year-olds found that less than HALF of the children in the study group said they wear a helmet on every bike ride, and less than 1/3 always wear a helmet while riding on scooters skateboards, and skates.  This is where parents come in!

Injury Prevention:

Make sure your child wears a helmet and other safety gear EVERY time they bike, skate, or scooter.  It only takes one time not wearing safety gear to get hurt.

Make sure the helmet fits correctly and is snug.
